Historic Holly Hotel Ready to Welcome Guests Back with Reopening Date

It's been 10 months since a devasting fire ripped through the historic village of Holly, Michigan. The fire damaged several downtown businesses including the iconic Holly Hotel leaving many to wonder if the pinnacle of the town would open its doors again.

From minute one, the owners and staff of the hotel were committed to the thought "down, but not out" and were set on bringing the business back to the community that had shown such support for years. Knowing the rebuilding process would be long, construction began. After maneuvering through the holiday season, traditionally a peak time for the town and the hotel, progress was made, and the end is finally in sight.

As if to be the signal of the final leg for the resurrection journey, this week saw the "cherry on the top" as the construction company, Swank Builders Inc., restored the roof of the hotel which was destroyed during the fire. For many, it was a sign that good things are just on the horizon.

"It was devastating for the community. If you were down here, you saw people crying and upset. We're such a tight-knit community,"  Nick Klempp, The Director of Holly's Downtown Development Authority (DDA) told Mid-Michigan NOW.  "Business wise, places like the hotel, Andy's place, Moose Lodge, antique store, and Creative Fashions. They drive our downtown and our small businesses, so it's affected our small businesses here in town. To be able to see that rebuilding and reopening starting to take place is awesome! People are commenting and talking about how they are excited about each of them opening up."

So when will the Holly Hotel be up and running once again? According to one of the Holly Hotel managers, Brian McIsaac, the Holly Hotel is expected to be back open on June 21st. The date seems fitting...it will be the anniversary of the fire. What a perfect way to show resilience and determination. We can't wait to welcome you back Holly Hotel!
