Meijer’s Sandy the Snow Plow Is the Hero Michigan Deserves
If you grew up in Michigan, you don’t forget Sandy.
You probably rode Sandy during a trip to Meijer with your parents. And for the unbeatable price of one penny, you’ve likely treated your kids, and maybe even your grandkids, to a ride on the iconic mechanical horse near the front of the store.
That’s a pure Michigan childhood.
And with this winter refusing to let up, a parody video making the rounds online has us wishing something was real.
Meijer’s Sandy the Snow Plow.
In the clip, a creative guy imagines Sandy not as a kiddie ride, but as a full-blown snow plow. Picture clearing your driveway while reliving your childhood, high atop the familiar horse as snow blasts out of Sandy's nostrils.
The video, created by parody news page Macomb Breaking News, has already racked up thousands of views and hundreds of comments.
“I’m in the Meijer lot with Sandy the Snow Plow, just chewing through this stuff, no problem,” the rider says. “It clears a path in one pass and I stay warm up here on the saddle.”
Honestly, Sandy has been handling restless toddlers, sticky fingers, and decades of wear and tear without complaint. Six to eight inches of fresh powder in your driveway should be nothing.
We’re not saying Meijer needs to get into the snow removal business.
We’re just saying if a giant mechanical horse started clearing roads and parking lots across Michigan, nobody here would question it.
They’d just say, “Yeah, that makes sense.”
And then go look for a penny.
