Less than a month after three reports of human remains found just days apart in Michigan, a new investigation is underway after remains were discovered along a well-traveled Michigan freeway.

Human Remains Found Along U.S. 127 In Mid-Michigan

Human remains were found along northbound US-127 near Michigan Avenue in Pine River Township according to ABC 12. And it wasn’t during some major search or investigation. This was a routine maintenance crew from the Gratiot County Road Commission doing their job when they came across what they believed could be remains.

Deputies responded, called in the Michigan State Police forensic team, along with experts from Michigan State University, and that’s when it was confirmed. The remains are human. And right now, that’s about all anyone knows.

Investigators Still Searching For Identity And Cause

There’s no identity yet. No description. Not even a cause of death. Investigators are still trying to piece together who this person was and what exactly happened.

The remains have been sent to the Genesee County Medical Examiner’s Office, where they will work alongside MSU’s anthropology unit to hopefully get some answers.

Recent Discoveries Raise Concerns Across Mid-Michigan

This comes less than a month after several other discoveries across Mid-Michigan. Human remains were found on newly purchased property in Genesee County back in March.

Then not long after that, two more bodies were found just days apart near the Meijer on Tittabawassee Road in Saginaw County.

Massive Meijer Renovation Nearing Final Completion

Meijer on Hill Road in Mundy Township has been undergoing a renovation and remodel that started in March of last year. The project should be completed the first week of November '25.
