Grand Blanc Community Schools got the green light on a $149 million bond, and it passed by a pretty slim margin, just over 4,100 yes votes to just under 3,900 no votes. The big headline here is no tax increase. The millage rate stays the same as it’s been since 2020 according to MLive..

So where’s that money going? The biggest piece is a new performing arts center at the high school, expected to cost around $55 to $60 million. There’s also a major overhaul planned for the Perry Center, including tearing down parts of it, expanding it, and turning it into a hub for early childhood programs, STEM education, and robotics.

On top of that, you’re looking at district-wide upgrades like improved security, updated technology, better parking lots, and getting rid of those modular classrooms at some elementary schools. Bottom line, it’s a big investment that’s now officially moving forward.

Republican Jason Tunney conceded, and Democrat Chedrick Greene takes the win, meaning Democrats hold onto their 20 to 18 majority.
Corunna and Saginaw Township See Mixed Results
As for other school votes, Corunna had a split decision. Voters approved a $16.5 million bond for building improvements but rejected an $18 million proposal for a new event center. And in Saginaw Township, ABC12 reports that voters said no to a $94 million bond, even after it was scaled down.
