This one hurts. I spend a lot of time in Montrose with Fenech Feud, and if you know anything about that community, you know it’s tight. People show up for each other. Everybody seems to know everybody. So when news like this comes out, it doesn’t just feel like a headline, it feels personal.

Montrose Community Feeling the Loss

A 26-year-old Montrose man, Ryan Bishop, was killed early Monday morning in a crash along M-65 in Alcona County. According to the Alcona County Sheriff’s Office, Ryan was driving a 2017 Chevy Silverado work truck north around 6:10 a.m., just south of Sawmill Road.

For reasons investigators are still trying to figure out, the truck left the roadway, went airborne in a ditch, and struck a large tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene. He was just 26 years old.

Investigation Ongoing in Alcona County

The truck belonged to Dubois Electric out of Indian River, so this wasn’t someone out messing around. This was a young man heading to work. According to ABC 12, officials say there’s no indication of speeding or intoxication. Right now, they are simply trying to determine what caused the truck to drift off the road.

And that’s the part that makes it even harder. Sometimes it’s just a normal morning, just another drive. But in an instant, everything changed.

A Tight-Knit Michigan Community is Hurting

My heart goes out to Ryan’s family. I can’t imagine what they’re going through. I’m also thinking about his coworkers at Dubois Electric and everyone back in Montrose who knew him. When you’re part of a small community, a loss like this ripples through everyone. Hold your people a little tighter today. Montrose is hurting.
