Watch John Travolta as a Stalker in Fred Durst-Directed ‘The Fanatic’ Film Trailer
Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst continues to add to his film resume, serving as the director on the upcoming film, The Fanatic, and the new trailer for the John Travolta-starring movie has just arrived.
In the film, Travolta plays a fan named Moose who gets turned away at a signing session for his favorite action movie star Hunter Dunbar (played by Devon Sawa). But when he learns from a photographer how he can find the actor's home, he takes it upon himself to try get his missed interaction that he'd been longing for. But the desire just to meet the actor turns into something darker as his visits to Hunter's home continue to escalate.
The film was first announced around March of 2018, and Travolta had kind words to say about his experience working with Durst. The idea for the film came from an incident the singer-director experienced in his own life, and that led to what turned out to be a great working environment for Travolta.
The actor told TMZ in April 2018, "It may be my favorite experience I've had. [Fred] was so generous. He's such an artist and he allowed me to create a character that nobody else would allow. I mean it's really a wild character and I felt very free to do that."
Durst's film directing credits include the underrated 2007 film The Education of Charlie Banks and the 2008 Ice Cube-starring The Longshots. He's also been an in-demand director in the music video world, helming clips for Korn, Staind, Puddle of Mudd and Deadsy as well as some of Limp Bizkit's video work.
The Fanatic will be released in theaters and on VOD and digital Aug. 30.
