Legendary WWE Announcer ‘Mean’ Gene Okerlund Dead At 76 [VIDEO]
Sad news today, as legendary announcer 'Mean' Gene Okerlund has died. The longtime voice and face of the professional wrestling world was 76-years-old. The cause of death has not yet been made public, but Okerlund had two kidney transplants in the past.
'Mean' Gene started working with the WWE in 1984. I certainly remember watching him interview wrestling greats like Randy 'Macho Man' Savage and Hulk Hogan. Talk about countless career highlights! 'Mean' Gene talking to the wrestlers was always my favorite part to watch.
Gene Okerlund was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2006 by the one and only Hulk Hogan (Brother!). As you can imagine, many professional wrestlers and friends are paying their respects via social media. Rest in the ring 'Mean' Gene.
