We thought we'd heard every excuse in the book until we read a Wisconsin man's claim that it was a ghost who beat his wife and not him.

Michael West, a 41-year old living in Fon du Lac, Wisconsin, was arrested last week on domestic abuse charges after police received a distress call from the man's wife. According to The Smoking Gun, when the cops arrived the woman said her husband attempted to strangle her twice and delivered a face-punch when she tried to call 911 -- Michael West told his side of the story a little different.

West began with the traditional "I'm a loser who beats my wife" excuse -- claiming that his wife's injuries were caused by a series of falls. Upon further questioning, West revealed what "really" happened by saying "A ghost did it." Unless the ghost of Ike Turner has taken up residence in Fon du Lac, we're calling bulls**t. The cops did as well and took West into custody.

Mr. West is now being held on $1,000 bail and faces charges of domestic abuse, strangulation, battery, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest. He's just lucky that being a dumbass is still legal.
