Man Struck And Killed On M-53 In Imlay City

Police believe alcohol and or drugs, may have been a factor in the death of a 24-year-old Attica man.

The man, whose name has not yet been released has reportedly had issues with law enforcement before. Aside from that, a life was lost and my thoughts are with his friends, family, and everyone involved in the accident.

According to ABC 12, this man was standing in the middle of M-53 in Imlay City, at roughly 4:00 AM this morning when he was struck. The man died on the scene. Reports indicate the driver that hit him, tried to stop - but could not. Alcohol or speed, on the part of the driver are not a factor in the crash.

I have no idea why this young man was standing in the middle of the road, but I sure wish he would not have been. I was involved in a major accident many years ago, and if you have been as well - you know it is something you will never forget. I have also walked home from places late in the night (most often when I was in high school), and I am lucky nothing like this ever happened. Trust me, when you are 16-years-old and sneaking out, or back in - you are not wearing reflectors.
