Margot Robbie Has No Idea What’s Next for Harley Quinn
I’m always of two minds when it comes to critics asking actors about superhero movies at film festivals. On the one hand, I understand the needs of our industry. If you don’t at ask at least one or two questions about Marvel and DC movies, another publication will, so there’s no point in pretending that any of us are above the fray. On the other hand, actors who have just put their all into a dramatic performance deserver better than questions about summer blockbusters that happen to be years away. Save your superhero questions for the very end and get off them as quickly as possible; that seems to be the best way to handle this tricky subject.
Again, just the way the industry works. The Wrap and the I, Tonya cast no doubt had a spirited conversation about the quality of their latest film and the preparation that went into these performances, but the only quote that really matters to other sites — sites like ours — is that Margot Robbie is confused by the Warner Bros. changes as well, and for good reason. If nothing else, raise a glass for those actors out there who can answer endless questions about The Batman or The Avengers without pulling a T.J. Mackey and sitting in silent judgment of the reporter. As for whatever Warner Bros. is doing with their DCEU spinoffs? We’ll find out when the producers are ready to talk, and probably not a moment before.
