Watch This Alien-Like Bug Crawl Across a Michigan Man’s Floor
There’s no doubt that Michigan is home to countless weird and creepy bugs. However, it seems rare to come across one that you’ve never encountered before in your life.
Simon Rix of Shelby Township shared a video he took of a strange bug crawling across his floor the other day. It was unlike anything he had ever seen before. Honestly, it's like nothing I've ever seen either. It’s a white bug with what looks like four legs that move in a unique fashion. Its body appears to be covered in a material resembling children's Playfoam.
After looking at his photos and video, I did a little digging to try and figure out what in the heck it was. While I'm still not exactly sure, I do believe it might be a Masked Hunter Bug.
The Masked Hunter Bug is a predatory insect that covers itself with debris and the remains of its prey to blend into its surroundings. It has a long, needle-like mouthpart that it uses to inject digestive fluids into other insects and then suck out their insides. This bug is usually found hiding in leaf litter or under rocks. While its bite can be painful, it’s generally not harmful to humans.
If this is a Masked Hunter Bug, it's doing a terrible job of camouflaging itself.
