Bad News, Campers—18 Michigan Campgrounds Facing Closures in 2025
Even though Michigan is buried under a fresh blanket of snow, that hasn’t stopped residents from planning their summer camping adventures. The only thing stopping them is the 2025 closures at some of their favorite campgrounds.
As Michigan families start planning their summer trips, the last thing they want to hear is that their favorite campground is partially or completely closed for the year. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what some campers will be dealing with in 2025 as several Michigan campgrounds face closures.
Campgrounds in Michigan aren’t closing due to a decline in visitors; that’s definitely not the issue, as summer camping is as popular as ever. It’s more about necessary maintenance and park enhancements.
According to the Department of Natural Resources, closures and detours may take place due to improvement projects, repairs, and weather-related events.
It's always a good idea to check months in advance to make sure your favorite spot is open and available—never just assume.
