If you have driven in Michigan for more than three minutes, you are well aware that the roadways are not the best in the nation. Well, the bridges aren't that much better either. Michigan winters really do a number on the state's road system.
Sure, Michigan is known for the 'Mighty Mac' but that does not mean that all the bridges in the state are in the best condition. As with anything, wear and tear along with harsh winters can really wreak havoc on things, bridges included.
According to Stacker.com, these 20 counties in Michigan have the most bridges that are in dire need of repair. Do you live in one of these counties?
- Benzie County - 28% of bridges (7 of 25) are in poor condition.
- Arenac County - 23.8% (19 of 80) are in poor condition.
- Crawford County - 23.6% (13 of 55) are in poor condition.
- Luce County - 21.4% (6 of 28) are in poor condition.
- Lake County - 20.7% (6 of 29) are in poor condition.
- Branch County - 20.3% (24 of 118) are in poor condition.
- Cheboygan County - 19.2% (14 of 73) are in poor condition.
- Iron County - 18.9% (10 of 53) are in poor condition.
- Alcona County - 18.5% (5 of 27) are in poor condition.
- Hillsdale County - 18.4% (19 of 103) are in poor condition.
- Saginaw County - 18.4% (58 of 315) are in poor condition.
