Lunch Lady in Small-Town Michigan Accused of Sex With Students

You never really expect headlines like this to come out of a small town like Mendon, Michigan. But here we are.

Mendon, Michigan, is not exactly a big place. The population is under a thousand, so when something like this happens, it shocks the whole town.

A former school lunch worker in Mendon, Michigan, is facing several charges that could lock her up for life after prosecutors say she crossed serious lines with two teenage students.

Mendon Lunch Lady Criminal Charges

According to MLive, Kaitlyn Sand, 33, of Three Rivers, is looking at some really heavy charges. We’re talking multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct, plus obstructing police, messing with evidence, and even supplying alcohol to a minor. Two of those charges involve sexual assault of victims between 13 and 15, and just one of those alone could put her away for life.

Apparently, the first victim, a 15-year-old boy, told police he slept with Sand at his house in March 2023 while his parents were out of town. He also said she performed sexual acts on him in a parking lot in Three Rivers. After that came out, police say they found a second victim, a 16-year-old student.

How the Lunch Lady Met the Students

Sand was around the Mendon schools from 2021 to 2023, but only through a food service company the district contracts with. She was never actually on the school’s payroll. By the time these allegations came up, she had already been let go for something unrelated. Boy, it sure makes you wonder what that was.

Investigators say Sand was also hitting up minors on Snapchat, setting up meet-ups to sell them alcohol. One of those meet-ups even went down at Mendon United Methodist Church.

Police took her phone, but she refused to hand over the password. Obviously, a huge red flag.

Police say the investigation is still ongoing and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
