Michigan Park Now Offering Beach Wheelchairs
The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is doing their part to make life a little easier for those needing assistance with walking or with disabilities.
They now have beach wheelchairs that operate and tear it up in the sand. Hell, it can be a real bitch trying to walk up and down the steep and sandy hills as it is so this is really an amazing offer for those in need.
According to a Facebook post, the beach wheelchairs are free of charge with a Park Pass—within the Lakeshore. An adult and child’s chair is available at the Cannery at Glen Haven and an adult chair is available at the Maritime Museum. Both areas have ramped beach access. A user needs a support person to ambulate the chair.
In addition to the beach wheelchairs, you can also now rent a motorized chair with treaded tracks to get around. However, these are only for those in need. Don't be a toolbag and try to rent one of these for your own personal fun.
