What Is Michigan’s Biggest Pet Peeve?
Personal pet peeves vary, but certain things tend to annoy just about everyone in Michigan.
I asked Google what Michigan's biggest pet peeve is and got the following answers,
- Driving habits
- High grocery prices
Both are annoying, yes - but are they Michigan's biggest pet peeves?
I then asked ChatGPT what Michigan's biggest pet peeve is, and received the following responses,
- Calling pop 'soda'
- Out-of-state people trashing Detroit
- Mispronouncing Michigan cities
The only thing on the list above that bothers me is indeed people bashing Detroit. And, Flint, too. I can’t stand hearing outsiders make jokes about the water.
So, as you can see, there is not just one answer as to what Michigan's biggest pet peeve is. According to Zippia, in 2021, Michigan's biggest pet peeve was badly behaved kids.
I think most of us still find that annoying in 2025.
The fact that Zippia hasn’t released a new study or poll since then has officially become one of my pet peeves.
Here are strong contenders for Michigan's biggest pet peeve, according to me,
- Drivers who tailgate
- Littering
- People who leave their dogs outside for too long in extreme heat or cold
- People who don't make a new pot of coffee at work after taking the last cup
- Loud gum chewers
- Strong cologne or perfume
- Repetitive tapping
Feel free to add to the list. Let me know what your biggest pet peeve is. Chances are, I will agree.
