Michigan Revives the Beloved Red, White, and Blue License Plates for 2026

The Michigan Secretary of State’s office has announced plans to bring back a legacy license plate design in 2026.

The popular red, white, and blue license plate design was first introduced in 1976 and will once again be available for Michigan drivers to purchase in the new year.

As we prepare to celebrate our nation’s 250th anniversary, I’m proud to announce Michigan’s iconic red, white, and blue license plate will return to our roads in 2026.

When can I get a red, white, and blue Michigan license plate?

The vintage plate design will be available beginning Friday, January 2nd, 2025.

The license plate will be available for purchase at Michigan Secretary of State branch offices and online through the Secretary of State’s official website.

How much is the Michigan red, white, and blue legacy license plate?

The license plate will cost $55, which is the same price as Michigan’s legacy white-on-blue and white-on-black license plates.
