A Michigan teenager who falsely reported a bomb threat aboard a Carnival Cruise Line ship was recently sentenced to prison.

The incident occurred in 2024. The teen was upset that he was not included on the cruise with his girlfriend and her family. He had been left behind to care for the family's pets.

Sure, it sucks to miss out on a vacation, but calling in a bomb threat is extreme. Now he is going to prison, which is going to be way worse than staying home with the pets.

Yesterday, Monday, April 14th, 2025, Joshua Darrell Lowe, 19, of Muskegon County was sentenced to 8 months in prison over the bogus bomb threat.

Lowe was living with his girlfriend's family at the time. What are the chances they will take him back after his prison stay?

According to the New York Post, Lowe did take responsibility for his actions in a letter he wrote to US District Judge Paul Maloney,

This is all my fault and I take full responsibility.

Lowe made the following threat via email, and eventually, FBI agents traced the email back to him.

Hey, I think someone might have a bomb on your sunrise cruise ship.

Not exactly the words of a criminal mastermind, but a threat nonetheless. The ship was en route to Jamaica from Miami and had to return to port with assistance from the U.S. Coast Guard.

Do you think the unidentified girlfriend is standing by her man? Stranger things have happened.
