Port Huron Woman Who Locked Foster Kids in Dog Cages Sentenced to Prison
Some stories are hard to read. This is definitely one of them.
A 39-year-old woman from Port Huron has been sentenced after admitting to abusing two foster children in ways that are honestly sickening.
And I’m not going to sugarcoat this…this woman sounds like an absolute monster.
According to WDIV, Sarah Elise Hager abused a young boy and girl over a four-year span while they were in her “care”, and I use that word very loosely. We’re not talking about simple neglect or someone losing their temper. Authorities say she beat the children, locked them in dark rooms, and even put them inside dog cages.
Dog cages. Again, monster.
Court Documents Reveal Horrific Abuse of Michigan Foster Children
One detail is especially hard to stomach. Investigators say after the boy wet the bed, Hager allegedly beat him and rubbed his face in the urine-soaked mattress.
I don’t even know what kind of person does something like that to a child, let alone a child who is supposed to feel safe in your home.
She was supposed to care for these kids and protect them. Instead, she abused them and likely scarred them for life.

Hagar was sentenced to 6 to 10 years in prison, and I’ll be honest…that doesn’t feel like nearly enough. Not even close.
Maybe that sounds harsh, but I don’t care.
When you torture defenseless kids and lock them in cages, six years just doesn’t feel like enough. Not even close.
Call me what you want, but some people simply don’t deserve to walk free.
