Michigan’s Own Sponge To Headline Reopening Weekend At The Machine Shop
The countdown is on. It's crazy to think it has been over a year since we have seen a show at the world famous Machine Shop in Flint. I am so happy that our favorite music venue is getting closer to reopening and even better, three pure Michigan band will be performing.
Sponge will headline the concert on Saturday, August 28th, and Spiral Crush and Inkless will be opening the show. Tickets are on sale now for just $15 in advance, 18 years of age and up are welcome with proper ID. If you have tickets dated for the original date, they will of course be honored at the door.
Sponge is always a favorite show of mine. I cannot be the only one who thinks that lead singer Vinnie Dombroski is a vampire - the man does not age and he and the band absolutely kill it live every time.
I am trying to remember the last show I did see at the Shop before the venue was forced to shut down during the pandemic. That's when you know it has been way too long, I honestly can't recall. Nonetheless I know you are just as excited as I am to get back to what so many people refer to as their 'home away from home'.
I joked with owner Kevin Zink earlier this year that my mom could headline reopening night and people would go. That's how anxious we all are to get back to The Machine Shop. Lucky for us, my mom is not performing and Sponge is.
