See The Vietnam Moving In Holly This Weekend
The incredible Vietnam Moving Wall will be in historic Holly this weekend. The Moving Wall is a half-size replica of the Washington, DC Vietnam Veterans Memorial and has been touring the country since 1984.
The Moving Wall has been viewed in Michigan before, but this will be the first time that it will be displayed in Holly, Michigan. The traveling exhibit honors more than 3 million Americans who served in the Vietnam War and etched into the wall are the names of over 58,000 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam.
Thanks to the generosity of many including the Holly American Legion Post 149 and the Holly Area Veterans Resource Center, The Moving Wall will be in Holly from August 3rd through August 8th. According to the Tri-County Times, guests can view The Moving Wall just west of Karl Richter Campus off of East Street.
Although it costs $10,000 to bring The Moving Wall to Holly, there is no admission fee. An opening ceremony will take place on Thursday, August 4th at 11:00 AM with the closing ceremony at 1:00 PM on Sunday, August 7th.
Seeing The Moving Wall is a highly emotional experience for those who served and also for those who lost loved ones in the war. My father served in the Vietnam War and did not talk about it until much later in his life. He is no longer with us, but I will go to The Moving Wall in his honor with my stepfather who also served.
Thank you to all of you who served - you are appreciated. For more on The Moving Wall check out the videos below.
