Last week my son took 3rd place at his first-ever 4-H event at the Ogemaw County Fair.

I'll apologize in advance if I don't get all the verbiage correct when talking about this stuff because I'm pretty clueless when it comes to 4-H, farming and showing animals at a county fair.

I was really proud of my boy as he took 3rd place while showing his 1585 lb steer named Red. This was in the beef/dairy heavyweight division.

I know there's a lot of work that goes into something like this but since all his preparation is in West Branch, I don't get to see it first hand. I'm just happy I was able to take a day off last week to see him in action.

The funny thing is, every time I tell him to take our Great Dane for a walk he says the dog is too big and hard to handle. Now I know he's full of crap after watching him handle a steer weighing nearly 1600 lbs.

Super proud of you Aiden!
