New Proposed Michigan Law Would Prevent Minors From Using Tanning Beds
For some reason, I was already under the impression kids couldn't use tanning beds but then I realized they can with their parent's consent.
According to WNEM, House Bill No. 4205, introduced by Reps. Vaupel, Brixie, Crawford, Coleman, and Yaroch, would restrict a minor from using a tanning device.
I'm sure a lot of people will say it should be up to the parents to decide whether or not their child should be allowed to use a tanning bed and I agree. It gets a bit dicey when the government starts to get involved with things like this because at what point does it become too much interference.
The Indoor Tanning Association says parents, not government, should decide whether teens should be allowed to use tanning beds. Of course, that's how they're' going to feel, teens are a huge part of their bread n' butter.
If an owner or operator of a tanning facility violates that, they could pay a $150 fine for each violation
