Nikki Sixx Is ‘Unofficially Retired’ From Touring, Plots New Sixx: A.M. Albums, Books + TV Show
Following the retirement of Motley Crue, Nikki Sixx maintained focus on his other band, Sixx: A.M. The group release a pair of well-received albums last year, hitting the road heavily in support. For fans hoping to catch Sixx onstage as he continues his post-Crue career, you might be out of luck as the bassist has declared he is "unofficially retired" from touring.
Evidently, fans had begun asking Sixx when he would step out on tour again, which necessitated a Facebook post (seen below) to keep everyone updated on his current status. The bass player stated, "For those of you asking, I've been playing in bands and touring the world for 40 years. I have no immediate tour plans unless I get a wild hair up my ass or something or somebody really inspirational comes along. Since I've been home I've just been writing music non-stop, recording with other artists, taking vocal, bass and guitar lessons and focusing on photography. Money has never been and isn't a driving force for me... Let the chips fall where they fall...So I guess I'm unofficially retired or maybe just expired at this time. Nice to give 100 percent of my time to my wife and kids."
Finishing off, Sixx clued fans in on what to expect from him in the near future, adding, "Got a couple Sixx: A.M. albums coming out soon and one book this year. Sixx Sense radio is the biggest syndicated radio show in the world and that [is] going on 8 years. I got two books in the works and I am in talks to develop a TV show ( not reality) as well as The Dirt for Netflix and The Heroin Diaries play....YUP, I AM RETIRED... HAHA."
In the beginning of April, the Motley Crue legend provided an updated on The Heroin Diaries play, stating that "most of the songs" were written and that he had spent the week working on set design, an area in which he has an extensive background. However, he noted, "theatrical presentation is different in a lot of ways" from a rock concert stage.
