There's nothing like fall in Northern Michigan. I lived in Petoskey for about five years as I began my career and each fall created a beautiful landscape that made every drive (even heading into work) beautiful. Beautiful might not be a strong enough word. Let's go with 'Breathtaking.'

It's not too late to plan for a weekend 'up north' so you and the family can soak in some of the fall colors that Northern Michigan has to offer.

Keep reading for nine fantastic color tour suggestions. Some of these routes can be driven in as little as 35 minutes while others are a couple of hours. And of course, you can spend as much time as you like, stopping for pictures and maybe some cider along the way.

Fall in Michigan is certainly beautiful, but fall in Northern Michigan is nothing short of spectacular.

Check Out the Harper House, a Rare Frank Lloyd Wright Home in Michigan

The Harper House is a stunning home with an incredible view of Lake Michigan. It's believed to be one of just a few Michigan homes designed by legendary architect Frank Lloyd Wright.

There are conflicting accounts of the home's age online; it was either built in 1950 or 1959. If the latter is true, this would make it the last home in Michigan to be designed by Wright.

According to the listing, it features Tidewater Cypress and Chicago Common Brick, mitered glass corners, several pieces of built-in furniture, cedar-lined closets, and more. It is simply breathtaking.

The property is reputed to rarely go on the market, but it was just listed for sale by by Anne Gain of @Properties.
