The 2019 NBA free agency kicked off Sunday with a bunch of big-name players changing teams.

The Detroit Pistons took a gamble with one of their free agents with the signing of former overall number one draft pick and former league MVP Derrick Rose.

Detroit will make an official announcement later but sources say that it is a two-year deal worth $15 million dollars. A $2 million dollar pay increase for Rose who played last season with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

In 2011 when Rose won the league MVP he averaged over 25 points a game and was the face of the Chicago Bulls franchise. After tearing his ACL a year later Rose has never been quite the player he was. Bouncing from team to team until last year with his comeback season with the Timberwolves. Is this a good fit for the Pistons as they are trying to build something around Blake Griffin? Only time will tell.
