I can honestly say I have not used the word "pragmatic" at all this year.  Apparently a lot of other people have because Merriam-Webster dictionary has named it the word of the year.

CBS News is reporting that "pragmatic" was looked up so often on the online dictionary that it was the clear choice.  But what the heck does it mean?

The Merriam-Webster definition of pragmatic is:

Relating to matters of fact or practical affairs often to the exclusion of intellectual or artistic matters: practical as opposed to idealistic.

Okay, now use it in a sentence:

"It would be pragmatic of Chris Monroe to stop smoking so much at work."

I think that is right?

What word would you say you use most often?  I am guessing it rhymes with duck!
