Chilly Michigan Mystery: Why Do Michiganders Love Winter Shorts?

Okay, Michigan, how many people have you seen lately wearing shorts? My count so far this week is three.

I saw two men walking into a local party store on Monday wearing shorts, and just yesterday I witnessed a man running into Little Caesars in Fenton wearing shorts.

To date, my count for spotting Michigan peeps wearing shorts in the winter is approximately fifteen. Maybe not a huge number, but considering how cold it is in Michigan, that is 15 too many.

The majority of people I see wearing shorts in the winter are men. Some appear to be coming from or going to the gym, but not all of them.

To be fair, Michiganders are not the only people wearing shorts in January. According to the internet, a lot of folks in the Midwest prefer shorts in the winter as do some British people.

Maybe it's comfort, maybe it is because shorts are easy to throw on. That's dumb, pants are easy to put on too. Chances are people you see out in the wild during the winter months in Michigan were wearing shorts at home, and decided to run out for something.

Makes sense, if you are just running an errand or grabbing food and going straight home, why would you change?
