Smash Mouth proves that any song set to the music from Disturbed's recent cover of 'Sound of Silence' was destined to be an emotionally wrenching exploration of the human condition.

A lot of people were weeping tears of joy after Disturbed's cover of 'Sound of Silence' "changed their lives" a few weeks ago. Even folks from the radio industry people were saying things like "you're a fool to not play it at on your pop station" or "you're doing your audiences a disservice if you're not playing it." I have a feeling those statements will be remembered as fondly as those long deleted videos of you and your a-hole friends doing the Harlem Shake in under-sized Winnie the Pooh costumes in the Arby's drive-thru, but I digress...

We're here, not to talk about Disturbed, but to talk about Smash Mouth. A band that is to your ears what being audited by the IRS is to your bank account. Some genius, who probably enjoys Disturbed's cover as much as I do (which is not at all), proves that just about any song would sound as epic and emotional with that same instrumentation... even the song that is slowly becoming the new Rickroll -- Smash Mouth's 'All-Star.'

The best part about this isn't even the song, which itself is hilarious, but how the video mocks the over-dramatization of Disturbed's arrangement by adding just about every movie scene that ever made me cry as a kid, plus some nerd crap from Harry Potter and those Frodo movies. Well done, sir. Well done.
