Starlite Closes Both Burton Locations, Here’s Why
Update (8/27/25): Starlite on Court Street is back open.
Starlite Coney Island in Burton had a pretty rough weekend. Actually, I should say a catastrophic one, because both of their locations ended up closed. Seriously, both in one weekend.
It all started Saturday night, around 9:45, when a car plowed into the drive-thru at the North Center Road spot near Davison Road.
The impact tore up a wall, destroyed kitchen equipment, and basically shut the place down on the spot. Apparently, the crash left the kitchen a total loss. Everything has to be ripped out; we're talking custom equipment, hoods, the works. They’re going to have to start from scratch.

According to ABC 12, the repairs won’t happen overnight. Co-owner Jason Hester figures it will take at least two months and cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. In the meantime, more than 50 employees, many of them single parents, are suddenly out of work.
If that wasn’t enough, Starlite’s other Burton location on East Court Street had to close the very same night after an electrical fire; thankfully, that one was only closed for a few days.
Starlite has been serving Genesee County for nearly 60 years. It is going to take more than an electrical fire and some guy slamming into the building to keep them down.

Rumor has it, the guy who slammed into the building was fighting with his wife or girlfriend and just flipped out. Police haven’t confirmed that, but either way, the damage is done.
