Base Jumper

The headline should read “Dumbass Dies Young Defying Gravity,” but my editor has asked me to exercise a little sensitivity and compassion while delivering this story…let’s hope for the best.

Richard Henriksen is lucky to be alive after attempting a stunt for a Norwegian TV show. He was about to base jump off a high bar when the metal rod suddenly collapsed. This guy just barely missed the rock face of a cliff before his parachute opened.

Not sure if this guy was a professional base jumper or if he just took his school bag and packed it with a sheet. Either way this 120 meter (almost 394 feet) fall ended in a nice cartoon poof!

I think base jumping is one of the craziest things you could ever do. Now, throw in running from the police by base jumping off a bridge, that makes you are a real badass. This guy knows he is going to jail no matter what, so he decides to jump anyway. This story would be a lot cooler if the cop jumped after him or tased him before the jump, stuff like that only happens in the movies though. Read
