I don't know what's more disturbing about this story. The fact that a woman was found dead in a Taylor motel room, or the fact that police say her boyfriend continued living there with her body for several days afterward. Probably the latter.

Taylor Woman Found Dead at Red Roof Inn

According to Fox 2 Detroit, an employee at the Taylor Red Roof Inn discovered the body of 49-year-old Rebecca Patnaude inside a room she shared with her boyfriend, Christopher Schoonmaker.

Police say the room was packed with trash, had two dogs living inside, and Patnaude was found lying on the bed.

Boyfriend Accused of Staying With Body for Several Days

Now here's where things really get messed up.

Police believe Schoonmaker stayed in the room for days after Patnaude died and never reported her death. Instead, investigators believe he eventually skipped town and used her credit cards before disappearing.

Police Continue Search for Taylor Woman's Boyfriend

An autopsy didn't find any obvious signs of foul play, and police aren't saying Patnaude was murdered. But they do believe something wasn't right about what happened after she died, which is why they're still trying to track down Schoonmaker and get some answers.

One thing that's still unclear is exactly how Patnaude died. While the autopsy didn't find any signs of foul play, authorities haven't released an official cause of death.

It's hard to wrap your head around all of this without knowing what really happened. Losing someone you love is devastating enough. But staying in a motel room with their body for days without calling for help? That's the part of this story that doesn't make much sense to most people.
