For as long as I can remember, the night before Thanksgiving in Michigan has carried a reputation as the biggest and most lively bar night of the entire year.

Each year, friends return home from college or travel in from out of town, or even out of state, looking to reconnect with people they have not seen in months or years. What better way to do that than by meeting up over drinks at a local bar?

Fast forward to 2025, and I am curious if Michigan still parties hard on Thanksgiving Eve?

Don't get me wrong, I know that people still go out, but are you staying out as late as you used to? The answer to that question most likely depends on your age, and IF you are the one in charge of preparing the Thanksgiving meal.

I am certainly old enough to know better than to stay out all night before a holiday, but I’m also smart enough to never take on the responsibility of preparing a Thanksgiving meal. My motto is always: be a guest, never a host.

All kidding aside, the idea of staying out ridiculously late the night before seeing family and friends does not sound appealing. I did say ridiculously late. Still, going out for an hour or three the night before Thanksgiving? That, I can handle.

I am all for Drinksgiving, a Blackout Wednesday - not so much.

Please feel free to share your favorite spots to hit on Thanksgiving Eve. Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving, and Go Lions!
