Usually we wouldn't cover a story about The Flaming Lips, but when they claim to be recording a song that you will need to eat twice and nap during, it's kind of hard not to at least mention it.

The Flaming Lips have always been out there, their latest endeavor pushes the boundaries of anything that's ever been done in the world of alternative rock (or any type of music for that matter). According to Gibson, frontman Wayne Coyne recently said they will release a 24-hour long song on Halloween, but that's not even the weird part -- the packaging is. Coyne explained that the song will be contained on a hard drive encased in an actual human skull:

"In parts of the world and even on eBay you can actually buy real human skulls. There’s a place in town that’s called ‘Skulls Unlimited’ that’s been here for almost as long as The Flaming Lips have been here, and it sells human skulls."

The store Coyne is referring to is in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma -- where he currently lives. Coyne also claimed that the project is neither "bizarre" or "illegal", he further explained it as:

"...another element of this Flaming Lips connection with death and beauty and all that."

When the song has been recorded, the plan is to move it to hard drive and have it inserted into a chrome plated actual human skull where it will will then be elegantly packaged (and sold for a boatload of cash).Talk about getting a song stuck in your head. It has been reported that there will only be five of these produced and they will set you back about $5,000.
