Michigan Taco Bells Rewind Time: Fan Favorites Return with Retro Menu
No fast-food joint does it for me quite like Taco Bell does. In my opinion, there has been no greater fast-food invention like the Crunchwrap Supreme.
Even with Taco Bell’s ever-expanding menu packed with new items and innovations, there are still beloved classics that fans can't forget. We’ll always cherish the Double Chalupa and Verde Sauce, while quietly wishing for Taco Bell to bring these favorites back one day (seriously, PLEASE bring Verde back).
Now, Taco Bell is revisiting its menu archives to reintroduce five beloved items from the past 50 years. Each of these returning favorites was a standout hit during one of the decades since the chain's inception in the 1960s.
What Old Recipes is Taco Bell Bringing Back?
Among the list of old items are:
- Tostada
- Green Burrito
- Meximelt
- Beef Gordita Supreme
- Caramel Apple Empanada
The Tostada, a classic from 1962 with a crispy shell, refried beans, red sauce, lettuce, and cheese, was discontinued in 2020. The Green Burrito, a ‘70s favorite with refried beans, onions, Cheddar, and a unique green sauce, is making a comeback. The Meximelt, a popular ‘80s item with pico de gallo, cheese, and seasoned beef, vanished around 2018. The Beef Gordita Supreme, a ‘90s staple with seasoned beef, flatbread, and toppings, is returning alongside the Caramel Apple Empanada from the 2000s, a dessert with cinnamon sugar, apples, and caramel that was last seen in 2019.
However, the revival will start with a test run in California before a nationwide launch. So, Michiganders, you'll have to be patient, and hope all goes well in CA.
