Tim Burton’s ‘Superman Lives’ Starring Nic Cage Would’ve Been Hilarious [VIDEO]

A new documentary about 'Superman Lives' will show how an awesome Kevin Smith script was turned into an absolute disaster once Tim Burton got hired to direct and Nicolas Cage was cast as the Man of Steel.

Kevin Smith has often told his hilarious stories about his involvement in the scrapped 'Superman Lives' film (you can see his extended explanation of the gig below). Now we will get to see just how effed up the movie was going to be thanks to a new documentary called 'The Death of Superman Lives; What Happened?'

I know from hearing Smith's stories just how messed up this project became. At one point, Sean Penn was in consideration for the titular role which eventually landed on Nic Cage's desk. I think Smith puts it best in this trailer when he says, "Now when you think about it, If somebody was like 'Would you like to see a Nic Cage Superman Movie?' I'd be like 'F---!' and 'Yes!'"

No matter what you think of Zack Snyder's 'Man of Steel,' it was 1000 times better than this movie would have been.
