Verizon Could Be the Next to Make Big Cuts in Michigan
Oh boy, it sounds like Verizon might be the next big company to make some major changes. We're talking possible job cuts right before the holiday...great.
Word is spreading online that they could be gearing up for a big restructuring that includes shutting down stores and cutting jobs. And those shutdowns could happen right here in Michigan. Nothing’s been confirmed yet, but some reports say an announcement could come around November 20.
According to Android Authority, Verizon is expected to close underperforming stores and reduce staff at the ones that stick around. Nobody knows how many stores could be affected (yet), but it doesn’t sound small.

The company’s new CEO sent out an email last month talking about taking “bold actions to make the company leaner.” Well, I think we just found out what that means.

The rumors also mention that Verizon plans to bring in more AI tools to help customers in stores. So you know what that means...yup, less human interaction. Of course, that also means some people can kiss their jobs goodbye. They’ve already started using AI for customer service with something called Project 624 and even rolled out an AI shopping assistant to “recommend” products when you’re buying stuff.
Right now, it’s all just talk, but it’s talk that’s spreading fast among Verizon employees, who are probably a little freaked out. If it turns out to be true, we’ll probably hear something official before Thanksgiving.
