‘Wake The Bear’ Run to Fight Hunger Takes Place This Saturday in Flushing
As sad as it is, kids go hungry all over the world and that doesn't exclude kids right here in our area.
To do your part in the fight against hunger sign up for the annual run 'Wake The Bear' that helps feed hungry families in the Flushing area.
According to ABC12, this 5k and 10k run will happen this Saturday, May 4. There is also a fundraising fiesta dinner happening the day before at Holy Cross Luthern Church (race start & finish location) in Flushing. Proceeds from the event will benefit Bread for Life and provide meals and bags of food to children in Flushing schools.
The 5k/10k run starts at 8:00 am and is $33 per runner/walker. There's also a Cub Run which starts at 9:30 am. To sign up, click here.
According to Wake The Bear, the 5k route is reasonably flat and takes you through the streets of Flushing while the 10k travels through Flushing County park and along the river!
