Whitmer Prohibits Employers From Firing, Disciplining or Retaliating Against Sick Workers
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed an order earlier today that would protect workers from employers who try punishing them for being ill.
According to ABC12, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed the order clarifying state policy that anyone who suffers from fever, atypical cough, shortness of breath or other COVID-19 symptoms and everyone in their household should remain home under quarantine.
Taking the order one step further, it also prohibits employers from firing, disciplining or retaliating in any way against workers who stay home because they or something in their household has coronavirus symptoms.
I've actually been reading a lot about employers coming down hard on sick employees. Their crazy thought process is that people are taking advantage of the system and are faking illness to get out of going to work. Come on, you need to trust your employees because everyone that can work, wants to work.
