Earlier today Governor Gretchen Whitmer released a video encouraging all Michiganders to play it safe this Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving is about taking time to appreciate the things around us as well as give to others. This year, in particular, I am thankful for our frontline workers in our hospitals, child care centers, grocery stores, and everyone else who put their lives on the line to protect our families from COVID-19. As the weather gets colder and as cases continue to skyrocket, we must do everything we can to protect these heroes on the front lines. We all have a role to play to keep our family, friends, neighbors, and frontline workers safe. I know this year will be different, but to protect our families, frontline workers, and small businesses, we must make short-term sacrifices for our long-term health.

I know 2020 has been tough and we're all exhausted from fighting this virus, but we cannot let up for one second now. No matter who you are. Whether you live in a dynamic city like Detroit or a quaint town like Clare. Whether you're a Biden Democrat or a Trump Republican. Whether you're young or old, you have a role in this fight. Do it for yourself or your family. Or to help the small business owner who desperately wants to keep their doors open this season. I believe in you. I know it is possible. I implore you to rise to this challenge. Let's get it done...again. Happy Thanksgiving.

I know people are going to bash what she has to say, regardless of what it is. People love to hate her right now. Do yourself a favor though and let some of your anger go, even if for just a few days. Seriously, try to enjoy your holidays even if they're looking a little different this year. Yeah, it sucks that I can't be with my family for the first time ever but I know when the smoke clears and there is less of a threat, we'll make up for it eventually.
