What. A. Weekend.

Grand Rapids’ loudest weekend of the year—Upheaval—took over Belknap Park on July 18 and 19, and it was absolutely electric.

We got to rock out with so many awesome bands like Dead Poet Society, Wage War, The Funeral Portrait, Architects, Rob Zombie, and Falling in Reverse. The crowd was wild, the energy was unmatched, and the music? Nothing short of explosive.

Mother Nature though, oh she had other plans on Saturday. During Yelawolf’s set, literally just one song in, the call came to evacuate because of lightning in the area. He stopped in front of his giant inflatable camper to let the crowd know what was going on. As fans made their way to the exits he serenaded us with "Friends in Low Places."

Did the pause end up being a buzzkill? Not even close! Fans kept the vibe alive outside the gates, and so did Yelawolf. He partied in the rain with fans, even posting a video of the whole thing. It was straight-up good energy until the all clear was finally given.

And here’s a cool moment: Yelawolf didn’t just slide back through some celebrity gate—he actually walked back into the festival with fans through the GA line, getting frisked and all!

He even took photos with fans and signed autographs. Looks like folks with him had fun in the rain on Lookout hill too!

Huge thanks to the festival crew and safety staff for keeping everyone safe and working fast to get us back inside. Once the gates reopened, it was wild in the best way—mud, sweat, and a whole lot of headbanging as fans charged back in, more ready than ever to rock. And let’s give it up for every single trooper who conquered that beastly hill to the Lookout Stage multiple times a day. Total legends.

It was so great to be out there with Chuck Armstrong from Loudwire Nights along with Tommy Carroll, meeting so many of you, watching you crowd surf, and hearing you scream back at us as we intro-ed bands on stage.

If you’ve got pics or videos from the weekend, we’d love to see them—send them our way so we can relive the madness together.
