You Can Now Play Chess Or Checkers In Downtown Lapeer
The Lapeer Main Street DDA added two outdoor chess tables to Historic Downtown Lapeer.
The tables can be used to play Chess or Checkers by the community at no charge. Players will need to bring their own game pieces.
Outdoor Chess is super popular in cities throughout the United States. According to the Lapeer Main Street DDA, the two boards downtown were made possible by a grant from MEDC MiPlace.
The boards are located on West Neppesing Street in front of Cream and TheDoghouse.Coffee shop. A special thanks to the City of Lapeer Community Center, Parks and Recreation team for installing them.
As you will see in the photos below (thank you James Alt), residents are already putting the tables to use. I have a feeling these will continue to be a hot commodity in the downtown area.
If you have never played Chess, this is a great reason to learn the game. Even better, have your family learn to play together. Your kids will love it.
Thank you to the Lapeer DDA Main Street DDA for continuing to add new and exciting things to downtown Lapeer.
