The talents of Hooters girls never cease to amaze me.  A hula hoop is such a simple toy but when you wrap one around the right set of boobs, they become awesome.  I’ll be broadcasting live from Hooters next Tuesday and I plan to see if any of our local Hooters girls can keep up.  Check it out after the jump.

Seat belts save lives, and you really can’t deny it.  But people drive with out them all time, whether they forget or just choose not to.  Regardless why you’re not wearing your seat belt, it might cost you $65 as police across Genesee County are starting their ‘Click it or ticket’ campaign.

Starting today(5/21) 20 enforcement zones will be spread out across the county.  Areas include Flushing and Ballenger, Fenton and Hill, and Dort and Lapeer.  Outside of those 20 enforcement zones, local, state, and highway police will be on the look out for unbuckled drivers.

Police insist the campaign is about saving lives, not collecting more fine money.  Wearing a seat belt reduces your chances of being killed in an accident by 45% and the stops can lead to arrests for warrants, unlicensed drivers, and DUIs and other illegal activities.

Save yourself the headache and just put on your seat belt.

The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution reads,

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed

and it’s the topic of armed people that had people rallying in the streets of Lansing to make Michigan a ‘Constitutional Carry‘ state, easing gun laws and eliminating ‘no-carry‘ zones, such as schools, anywhere serving alc0hol, churches, and venues holding over 2,500 people.

Currently, to carry a gun in Michigan, residents have to complete a gun safety training course, be felony free, and be registered with the state, along with other requirements, as well as having firearm-free zones.  The ‘Constitutional Carry’ laws will allow all adults in Michigan to lawfully carry, and eliminates carry-free zones.  The laws would not affect felons.

Critics of the movement claim looser gun laws will lead to an increase in crime and will lead to more guns in the hands of dangerous people.  Supporters obviously disagree.  John Roshek, president of the Citizen’s League for Self Defense, was quoted

What we are trying to accomplish by this rally and future and ongoing efforts, is having our Second Amendment rights restored back to their original intent as laid out in our Constitution by our Founding Fathers

Research shows that ‘Constitutional Carry’ states are both safer and more dangerous, so it’s definitely a debatable topic.  There are still many steps along the way to making Michigan the fifth ‘Constitutional Carry’ state.

Summer is almost here, and that means wedding season. Chances are, your significant other will drag you to at least one wedding this summer. Let’s be honest: Weddings can actually be really fun. Case in point: I was in a friend’s wedding last weekend, and not only did we get to ride around Lansing in a party bus for hours, but they had a crazy photo booth at the reception, amazing food and an open bar. So, what if you’re not on the guest list for a single wedding this summer, but still stuck on the idea of scoring a free meal (or bridesmaid) anyway? No worries– we’ve got a few wedding crashing tips that will have you high-fiving the bride and groom before you know it. Check out some ideas, below, courtesy of Ask Men.

Say you’re a friend of Bob’s. If you don’t feel comfortable picking a “side,” then you can always tell them you’re a friend of Bob’s. Who’s Bob? Who knows, but chances are with 200 to 400 guests in attendance, there’s bound to be a Bob, Robert or Bobert on the premises.

Pretend to be a long-lost relative. Weddings are teeming with dozens of relations from all over the globe. From Aunt Gertrude from Glasgow to Great Uncle Terrence from Kalamazoo, the family tree is more than the happy couple — or their parents — can ever hope to keep track of…. Important phrases to remember are “Sorry we haven’t kept in touch,” “It’s been far too long” and “second cousin thrice removed on your uncle’s side.”

Play the part of a staff member. Every wedding has a ton of people floating around that no one knows — they’re called the hired help — and in most cases they don’t even know one another. Simply arrive at the venue early enough to pick up a tray and blend in with the caterers. Papa Roach are gearing up for a busy summer, as the hard rockers are playing the Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival this August and also readying a shiny new album. Speaking with Army Sergeant Russell Toof of American Forces Network Europe, frontman Jacoby Shaddix revealed that fans should expect a new Papa Roach album by this September.

“We don’t know the name of the album; we’re still going back and forth about what we feel like the album should be called,” he explained. “The release date is going to be sometime in September. We don’t have a date yet, but sometime in September. And the first single, we’re still trying to whittle down to the final right now…”

As for the upcoming Uproar Tour alongside Staind, Shinedown, P.O.D., Godsmack and more, Shaddix is stoked for it. After all, the guys of Papa Roach have played with almost everyone on the lineup, so it will be like old times.

“Thousand Foot Krutch is gonna be on there, and we’ve never toured with them, but dude, we’ve played shows or done tours with everybody else on that bill,” Shaddix said. “We’ve never been on a proper tour with Godsmack, so this will be the first time… we’ve done shows with them. We did a tour with Staind, and those are our homeys. I’m really ex about being out there with P.O.D. Those are my dudes, man. And the guys in Shinedown, I’ve got nothing but love and respect for those guys. It’s going to be a great way to spend the summer…”

P.O.D singer Sonny Sandoval caught up with Loudwire at Rock on the Range 2012 in Columbus, Ohio, earlier today (May 19). The frontman dished on P.O.D’s new album ‘Murdered Love,’ which is due July 10 via the band’s new label Razor & Tie Records.

Sandoval also talked about some of his musical “homies” who appear on the record, as well as the false personae of some of today’s rock bands. After their appearance on ROTR, P.O.D. have a few shows on the horizon with RED, Love and Death (Brian ‘Head’ Welch’s new band) and more. For a full list of dates, go here.

P.O.D. have been around for the better part of two decades already. What kind of advice would you give young bands who are just up and coming?

With rock ’n’ roll and touring comes a lot of good and bad decisions. These guys who are 21, they’re out there and they’re not indestructible. The history of rock ’n’ roll tells us and so a lot of these guys are on this road to destruction. Being in this game for 20 years, I’ve seen a lot of it and it rips my heart apart because there’s so much more to life than just “Look at me, I’m in a rock band, I like chicks, I like gettin’ high and wasted.” That only lasts a season bro.

That all seems to be getting kind of playing out again. I know it got like that in the ’80s before grunge, and now it’s back to those same themes again.

It’s like it’s always full circle. Somebody thinks, “Hey, if I act like Jim Morrison and I look like the Doors and sound like the Doors and even fake that I’m on ‘shrooms right now, I might get a interview” and it’s happening. It’s fake. These guys are walking around with the same bottle of Jack they haven’t even sipped on just because they think it looks cool. It’s like gimme a break. I’m so over it, dude.

You got some guest appearances on the new album. Tell us about some of the people on there.

My boy Jamey Jasta from Hatebreed is on a real heavy track called ‘Eyes.’ My homie Sen Dog from Cypress Hill jumped on a real hip-hop, funky track and then my boy Sick Jack. He’s from an underground L.A. hip-hop group called Psycho Realm and he’s on there. Then I actually talked to Chino [Moreno] from Deftones and he was gonna jump on a track, but he got married. They’re doing their new record.

He’s been busy. He’s got Crosses going on and he’s doing stuff with Deftones.

He’s so busy, but he’s like “Homie, I’m gonna do it, I’m gonna do it.” [Laughs]

I heard he’s got another project going too…

That guy’s a madman. He’s got all kinds of stuff. He promised to get on a track, so we’re gonna hold him to it. Who knows, if this record takes off, maybe we’ll just come have him sing the hook off of one of the songs and put it out there for fun.

Frontwoman Maria Brink and lead guitarist Chris Howorth of In This Moment chatted with Loudwire before their set at this year’s Rock on the Range Festival in Columbus, Ohio on May 19.

Brink and Howorth talked all about their highly anticipated new record ‘Blood.’ They also dished about the recording and writing process as well as some of their own most memorable concert moments and favorite bands.

This is you first year at Rock on the Range, what are you guys most looking forward to and is it different being at a festival like this?

Maria Brink: No, we’ve done Mayhem, Ozzfest and all those big festivals so we’re used to that aspect. The best thing is seeing friends and people we’ve met along the way, it’s so awesome and we’re just happy to be here.

You guys have the new album ‘Blood’ coming out in August, what can people expect on this album that’s maybe different from the last albums that you have done?

Chris Howorth: I think they can expect to hear it sounding like In This Moment but it’s totally different. It’s going to surprise a lot of our fans but in a good way. I think they’re gonna be really excited for it, it’s so unique and it’s different than anything we’ve done before but it’s heavier yet more accessible. It’s really cool, man.

MB: It sounds like we graduated high school and now we’re ready for the big world.

CH: We’re in college now!

Did you have a concept for the album first or how does the writing process work for you?

MB: Well I’m kind of a psycho I like things to thread together and have themes. It was kind of like a loose theme that ‘Blood’ represents kind of like the blood of the Phoenix, as in all death represents something new. I actually reference death a lot in the album but it mean rebirth, it’s not necessarily like “I want to die” but I think it all organically does come together, always making sense one way or another.

CH: Sometimes we’ll have an idea going in that we’ll follow and sometimes we’ll start doing it and the idea will come while we’re working on it.

MB: And it’ll all start as kind of one big piece.

When you write, do the lyrics typically come first or do you guys start the music and build the lyrics off of that?

MB: I do the lyrics and things like that but it’s usually after. It’s usually the song as a whole and then I feel the vibe and energy of what we wrote together and then we kind of come up with it from that.

CH: She’ll skit-scat over some ideas and get an idea of what we want to do and then she’ll go back and write her lyrics to that.

MB: Yeah, it’s the darkest album we’ve ever done.

You lost some members recently to James Durbin and those guys happen to be here, is that awkward for you guys at all?

MB: No, they’re playing tomorrow, we won’t be here but you know we respect the memory that we had with them and everything that we did with them. We wish them the best and all the success in the world. We’re happy where we’re at and what we’re doing and we’re happy they’re happy.

What bands really inspire you from a musical standpoint and also from a music listening standpoint. Who do you guys listen to and why do you like them?

MB: I love everything from Deftones, to Pantera to M83. Lisa Gerrard from Dead Can Dance is my favorite singer as a singer –  so I’m really widely spread open with music choices.

CH: Before the show, I like to listen to music and all of it’s to get pumped up. I always like to listen to songs that I listened when I was a kid that got me pumped up then. Even when I was dreaming about doing it, certain songs from Pantera, Motley Crue, Ratt, Whitesnake – all kind of stuff.

What has been the coolest concert you ever went to?

MB: I got to see Black Sabbath, Pantera and Deftones together, I remember that blew my mind completely. Also the ‘Antichrist Superstar’ Marilyn Manson tour really blew my mind as well.

CH: I saw Kiss and it was my first concert ever. They didn’t have the make up on anymore but they still had tons of pyro, they breathed fire, the lights, it was so awesome. To this day the production from that show sets the bar for a concert.

In This Moment’s new disc ‘Blood’ is due out on August 14.

Shinedown have had much success with their latest album ‘Amaryllis,’ which includes their radio hit ‘Bully’ and the new single ‘Unity.’ Loudwire had the chance to catch up with the band’s guitarist Zach Myers backstage at Rock on the Range today (May 19) and he talked about the songwriting process for the album.

Myers also talked about fellow bands like Adelitas Way, New Medicine and Halestorm, his musical inspirations and artists he would like to collaborate with, as well as the organic health items that are on Shinedown’s tour bus.

What’s going on next for your guys after Rock on the Range?

We go to Philly tomorrow, then we go home for nine days and then go to Europe for two weeks, home for two weeks. We do a little touring on the July festivals in Canada and then we start Uproar in August.

Touring in Europe like that and touring over here, do you notice any discernible difference between the audiences in Europe and the American audiences? Any weird stuff you guys pick up on?

I love America, I’m from America, I’ll never leave here but the crowds over there are awesome. They show up at 8 o’clock in the morning and they’re there all day and they are the most die-hard and they all do this bounce thing and they sing and it’s just amazing, man.

You guys have done so many tours and been onstage so many times, there’s probably a million weird things that have happened but what is – so far, maybe in the last two or three tours, the weirdest thing you’ve seen on tour, that’s like a shocking, show stopping moment?

We played a show one time and it was like 20,000 people and this kid in a wheel chair got lifted up and was crowd surfing in the wheel chair and then all these other people in wheel chairs started, it was one of the most beautiful things I’d ever seen. The fact that the unification of those people, helping those people out was really cool.

For you, what are some of your musical inspirations and whom would you most like to collaborate with?

Collaborate would be U2, that’s my favorite band of all time. I’ve become friends with Dave Grohl and he’s such an amazing guy, I’d like to collaborate with him too. Influences are Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix for me, Adam Duritz from Counting Crows as a song writer, Ed Roland from Collective Soul, Jimmy Page, people like that.

Even though you’re immersed on inside the music industry, are there concerts that you get excited to see?

Yeah, mostly smaller band, that not a lot of people have heard of though. This guy Ryan Bingham from Texas, he wrote all the music for ‘Crazy Heart’ I’m a big fan of his, a lot of country music – Brad Paisley, I love Brad Paisley so I get excited for that. Van Halen just canceled the show in my hometown and I’m friends with Wolfy the bass player, I was gonna go but they canceled it so I’m bummed out. I was excited for that.

Now that Shinedown’s obviously established and rocking it out, have you had any moments where you have a band that’s up and coming, have you ever taken any under your wing and help them out?

Yeah. we do that a lot — Adelitas Way, New Medicine. I love New Medicine, one of my favorite new bands, so we did that with them. Halestorm, we did that with Halestorm for years, we let Halestorm tour with us before they even had a record out.

What is Shinedown’s song writing process like, do you guys get the lyrics first and then add music or do you do the music first, how does that usually go down?

You know it’s different at times. Brent [Smith] will come with a lyrics or me or Eric [Bass] will have a piece of music. Brent’s a riff hummer like Brent wrote the riff to ‘Sound of Madness’ without even playing guitar so that’s how it works sometimes. I wrote the riff to ‘Bully’ we were talking about what we were gonna write about and I was sitting there just having a conversation just kind of noodling around the guitar and Brent was like “That, let’s write that” and that’s how ‘Bully’ got written.

What is your take on the whole landscape of the digital music scene? Shinedown’s been one of those bands at the tail end of how the music industry was [before] and then the explosion of the Internet. What do you guys feel from a band perspective is different, more challenging, what’s going on with that?

We got so lucky, this record – out of the gate we sold 105,000 records the first week, which is unheard of nowadays for a rock band. We still love the physical record, we came from the end of that era so it is what it is, I love the physical record, I get the sight of digital, I get that but it’ll all come back around – like how people collect vinyl now, CDs will be the cool thing in 10 years. They’ll be like, all these guitar kids will be like “Oh these are super rare.”

What do you guys do to wind down? What are some of the nerdiest stuff Shinedown does behind the scenes?

My drummer’s gonna kill me, my drummer plays Magic cards. My little brother works for us, he’s on production assistant so they play Magic cards together. We play video games, we have a big dressing room case with a 60 inch flat screen and every gaming system in the dressing room, I play mostly sports games, ‘NBA 2K,’ ‘Madden,’ ‘Tiger Woods.’ Barry [Kerch] plays ‘Halo’ and ‘Call of Duty’ and stuff.

What is the weirdest thing on Shinedown’s tour bus?

We’re all pretty healthy so probably like organic peanut butter or these weird pumpkin spice granola bars. Yeah we’re pretty lame man. We use to be a lot more fun, we’re not anymore.

Loudwire caught up with Falling in Reverse frontman (and former Escape the Fate singer) Ronnie Radke at the Rock on the Range Festival in Columbus, Ohio earlier today (May 19).

Radke shared his candid thoughts on his old band and declared that he’d have no problem playing on the same stage, right after his former band’s set at this year’s ROTR. Falling in Reverse are set to play a few more large festivals in the States before embarking on Warped Tour 2012; go here for a full list of dates.

You guys gained a pretty big following right away, how did that happen?

I think it’s from my past. The truth is I made a really good record with my first band and then the controversy sustained me until I got out – like an ice capsule kind of thing. That’s what I believe.

Your old band is here this weekend too. Are you guys on different days by design because I know you don’t have the best…

…I don’t know. I didn’t set that up. I would rather put us on the same stage, one right after another.

Are things still pretty rocky between you guys?

I just don’t like that they call themselves Escape the Fate when there’s one original member.

You feel like that was your band and they shouldn’t be able to use that name.

I feel it’s disrespectful – the new music that they play, that’s not what that band was about. That s—’s…like off in left field, compared to what that vision was.

Any bands that you’re excited to see at Rock on the Range?

Escape the Fate [laughs]. I can’t wait to see them. It would be kind of funny to stand on the side of the stage [and watch them] … Every time they look back, be kinda laughing at them. That’d be kinda weird.

When original Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward finally made the official announcement that he would not be joining the band for what would have been metal’s biggest reunion, the decision seemed to be more business-related instead of personal. However, Black Sabbath have now made the split with Ward very personal, as pictures of the drummer have been removed from the band’s vintage photo gallery.

As reported by Ultimate Classic Rock, Black Sabbath unveiled a new background on their website consisting of vintage photos of Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler. Due to some simple cropping however, Bill Ward was removed from the pictures not only for the layout, but in Sabbath’s gallery of classic photos. Although no other former Sabbath members are featured in the gallery, the sudden change after Ward’s open letter and Sabbath’s pleading the fifth has left fans feeling bitter and in some cases, disgusted.

Tom Conley, who runs the Facebook page 1,000,000 Black Sabbath Fans Say Yes to Bill Ward, posted this reaction: “Extracting Bill Ward’s face from all photographs on the website? That is simply one of the most dastardly, chickens–t things I have ever seen done in my 40-some years of watching rock and roll. Definitely the maneuver with the least class, and disrespect.”

Ward’s photos remain on the band’s ‘History‘ page, which still documents Ward’s place in the world of Black Sabbath.

Meanwhile, Ozzy Osbourne has also launched a new website, where you’ll be able find the three solitary Black Sabbath live dates, as well as the frontman’s ‘Ozzy & Friends’ show dates.

What do you think of the removal of Bill Ward from the classic Sabbath pictures? It is disrespectful? Or is it no big deal seeing as Bill Ward is not currently a member of Black Sabbath?

Number Five: Bangkok Peppers

With locations in Grand Blanc and Fenton, Bangkok Peppers is easily the best option around for Thai food.  And don’t get scared off by the term ‘Thai Food’ because it basically means better Chinese food.  The serving sizes are ridiculously huge and the prices are surprisingly cheap. The cheese rolls are out of this world, and it’s nice that you get to decide the spiciness of each dish.  I usually get the Sweet and Sour Pork but everything I’ve ever ate there has been awesome.

Number Four: Donna’s Donuts

There’s nothing better than eating donuts in the morning, and nobody does them better than Donna’s.  Donna’s Donuts have been a part of the Flint community since 1963 and it’s no surprise they’ve been successful for that long.  Donna’s makes their donuts fresh every day, and have been using the same ingredients since they opened.  I’ve never had a bad donut from Donna’s but the peanut butter and jelly has to be the best.  You would think other donut shops would get hip to topping their jellies with nutty topping, but Donna’s Donuts is the only place I’ve ever seen them.

Number 3: Halo Burger QP

When it comes to burgers in Flint, you’re wasting your time if you don’t get Halo Burger.  Really, the only way to make a QP better is to double the meat and get the Beefy Double.  Aside from the burgers, Halo Burger also has awesome onion rings and don’t forget a Boston Cooler to wash everything down with.

Number Two: Big John’s Steak and Onion

Big John’s is so legit.  The Steak and Onion has been a Flint staple since 1973 and features the best subs you can get in Flint.  The sandwiches are always stuffed to the brim and come in sizes up to 16 inches.  I usually load mine with cheese and mushrooms, and I go nuts with the red sauce, a Big Jonn’s exclusive.

Number One: Flint Style Coney at Angelo’s Coney Island

Was there really even a question on what would top this list?  Flint Style Coney Dogs are the best in the world, hands down.  It all starts with a Koegel hot dog.  You’ve gotta serve the curve.  Other wieners will not do.  Then you top it with Abbot’s coney sauce, onions, and yellow mustard.  The coney sauce is drier than other styles of coney, and honestly, they are much better.  Angelo’s makes them better than anyone in the business and honestly, nothing taste like Flint like a coney.

Pantera are one of the very few bands whose power and influence has remained legendary for decades. As Pantera consistently remain one of the most discussed bands in metal history, the subject of a partial reunion comes up fairly regularly. However, the question remains — who would fill the spot of the late, great “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott?

Although stating that Pantera should leave the 14 years they had together untouched by a partial reunion, drummer Vinnie Paul recently stated that if the band were to come together once again, Zakk Wylde would be the only man who can fill the spot of “Dimebag” Darrell. “I mean, [Zakk] and my brother were so tight,” began Paul. “If [a Pantera reunion] ever were to happen, [Zakk] would be the guy [to step in for Dimebag].”

Vinnie Paul isn’t the only Pantera member who spoke about the possibility of Zakk Wylde manning guitar duties. Frontman Phil Anselmo, who recently spoke to us about his love for Dimebag, responded to Vinnie Paul’s comments during an interview with Grand Rapids radio station WGRD 97.9.

“That is an interesting question, if anything like that would ever possibly happen,” says Anselmo. “Vince and I would have to sit in the same room, hash out whatever differences that we have, and as far as Zakk Wylde goes, I am not too sold on that ’cause we have to hash some crap out too. That day has not come yet, and until that day comes, I can comment further on that, but till then it is just talk. It would be rough not to see Dimebag on stage to my left, I would feel naked.”
