Ever wanted to be the lead guitarist for a big time rock band? Staind is giving you a chance to do just that. The band has initiated the 'Guitar Solo Showdown' -- whoever rocks the most kick ass guitar solo on their new single 'Not Again' will win a ton of cool stuff including $1000 to spend at Guitar Center and a spot on their upcoming seventh studio LP due September 13th.

Staind isn't a band that usually brings in guest musicians on their record, well there was that one time Fred Durst played lead BIC on the live version of 'Outside' (I'm feelin' them lighters y'all), but now you have a shot at joining the band on their upcoming self-titled album...for about 50 seconds.

Guitarist can now go to the Indaba Music website to download a version of Staind's lead single 'Not Again' that's had guitarist Mike Mushok's main solo removed. Then it's as simple as submitting your solo and waiting for the judges' decision on September 13th, although entries will be cut off after August 15th. You can also listen to all the entries thus far, comment on them, and vote for your favorite. There will be 10 honorable mentions but only one grand prize winner will:

  • Get their solo on the iTunes deluxe version of Staind's new album
  • Receive a Mike Mushok signature model PRS baritone guitar
  • Receive a $1,000 gift certificate to Guitar Center
  • Receive an autographed copy of the new Staind album
  • Receive a 1-month Tab Pro subscription to Ultimate Guitar

Not too shabby for 50 seconds of work.
