12 Famous Musicians Who Became Filmmakers
Some rock stars have proven themselves just as comfortable in front of the camera as on a stage. In fact, some are really damn good at both vocations. Jared Leto, Justin Timberlake, and Tom Waits are prime examples of musicians whose careers consist of an acting side-hustle in addition to music.
The list of famous musicians who have tried their hand at directing movies is a much smaller and more exclusive club. Perhaps the most dedicated of these is Rob Zombie, founding member of metal band White Zombie. Mr. Zombie found a second passion in filmmaking — more specifically, horror filmmaking. He has a lengthy resume of gruesome flicks: Halloween I and II, The Devil’s Rejects, House of 1000 Corpses, and The Lords of Salem. 3 From Hell is his latest effort, with a limited theatrical release this week. In honor of Rob Zombie’s newest blood fest, it’s time to dive into the filmography of other famous musicians who stepped behind the camera.
