A 7-year-old little girl was shot and killed on the north side of Flint last night around 9:15 pm.

My heart hurts for this family and their loss. To think this girl was simply at home with her family when she was shot and killed.

According to ABC12, Zaniyah Burns was sitting inside her house with her mother and brother when gunshots came into the home from outside. Great-grandfather William Long believes the shots came from the area of Ruth Street a block north.

Police are currently trying to track down the piece of crap person that did this. They had K-9 units and a police helicopter out searching last night. As of this morning, we haven't heard a follow up as to whether or not they found the person responsible.

It's really too bad people on the north side of Flint have to fear being in their homes and can never truly feel safe.
