Heads Up, Michigan—This Auto Parts Store Is Closing 700 Locations
Well, it looks like more closures are on the horizon—one major Michigan auto parts store is shutting down 700 locations.
According to MLive, auto parts giant Advance Auto Parts is set to shut down hundreds of stores nationwide.
What Advance Auto Parts Stores Are Closing?
That’s really the main question everyone wants to know right now. With 140 stores located in Michigan, it’s no surprise people are wondering. Unfortunately, it’s still unclear which locations will be affected. The company has yet to make that announcement. All we know is that they plan to close around 500 locations by mid-2025, along with an additional 200+ independently owned stores.
The stores closing will most likely be those considered underperforming.

Locally in Genesee County, there are eight Advance Auto Parts stores, including Grand Blanc, Flint (2), Flushing, Fenton, Mt. Morris, Clio, and Burton.
Why is Advance Auto Parts Closing So Many Stores?
Like many other businesses we've shared with you over the past few months, Advance Auto Parts is facing some financial struggles, despite reporting $2.15 billion in revenue.
Advance Auto Parts operates over 4,000 stores primarily in the United States, with additional locations in Canada, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Advance Auto Parts started way back in 1932 in Roanoke, Virginia. Founded by Arthur Taubman, it grew from a small operation into one of the biggest names in the auto parts industry. What began as a local business is now a massive chain with thousands of stores across the U.S. and beyond. It’s a pretty cool history for a company that’s been around for nearly a century.
And don’t worry—despite closing hundreds of stores, Advance Auto Parts plans to stick around for many more years.
