University of Michigan Warns Marijuana Is Not Allowed at Hash Bash
Every year, thousands pack into Ann Arbor for Hash Bash. It’s been around since the early 70s, and yeah…you already know the vibe.
Marijuana Still Banned on University of Michigan Campus
This year, the University of Michigan is making one thing very clear ahead of the April 4 event…you’re not supposed to light up on campus. Seems obvious, but apparently it still needs to be said.

Even though marijuana is legal in Michigan for adults 21 and older, UM says it’s still banned on all university property. According to MLive, that includes the Diag, where Hash Bash actually takes place. The reason? Federal law still considers marijuana illegal, and since the university gets federal funding, they have to follow those rules.
So basically, you can show up…but don’t do the one thing the event is famous for. Good luck with that.
Police Say Hash Bash Rules Will Be Enforced in Ann Arbor
Campus police, along with Ann Arbor Police, will be out there keeping an eye on things. So yeah, selling weed, lighting up, or causing a scene could land you a ticket…or worse.
Here’s the part that feels a little ironic. The last few years, police have mostly looked the other way while people smoked down during Hash Bash. Now it sounds like they’re tightening things up again.

At the end of the day, Hash Bash is still happening, and people are going to show up. The question is…will any of this actually be enforced?
