A Michigan restaurant has unexpectedly shut down.

These days, it is no longer unusual to see a restaurant shut down without warning. With declining business and a string of recent restaurant bankruptcies, it's become all too common.

Disappointing, yes, but sadly, not surprising.

Fans of Bahama Breeze on Big Beaver Road in Troy will be bummed to hear that the restaurant is indeed closed for good.

Bahama Breeze is a Darden Restaurants brand, and closures have also occurred in Tennessee, Nevada, and Florida.

As I understand it, the closure was due to the restaurant not meeting performance expectations. The Detroit Free Press published the following statement from a Darden Restaurants spokesperson,

We continually evaluate the performance of all our restaurants. Closing a restaurant is a difficult choice because it impacts our team members and guests.

However, we believe this is the right decision because it will allow Bahama Breeze to focus on its highest performing restaurants and strengthen the brand’s overall performance.

Yes, it does suck to see people lose jobs. We certainly hope all involved can find new employment soon.

This closure leaves one Michigan Bahama Breeze on Haggerty Road in Livonia.

Bahama Breeze in Troy is not the only restaurant closure we have seen in 2025. The following spots also closed this year,

  • Bar Louie (Livonia and Auburn Hills)
  • Seva Detroit
  • H2O Seafood (Wyandotte)
  • Bobcat Bonnie's (Corktown)
  • Zeoli's Modern Italian (Clawson)

Just to name a few.

If you enjoy Bahama Breeze, I’m sure the team in Livonia would be happy to welcome you.
