If you are the type that tries to make it to the beach on a holiday weekend, you can mark Memorial Park Beach of your list.

As long as I can remember, Lake St. Clair has had an endless supply of closures for either bacteria or other reason. I grew up in St. Clair Shores and it wasn't uncommon for some beaches to be closed. Always disappointing when you are a kid.

Health officials have decided to close down Memorial Park Beach in St. Clair Shores for the Memorial Day weekend. High bacteria levels have been found in the water which caused the closure to be issued on Thursday. There is no word as to when the beach may open again. Last year, the beach was closed for 66 days due to bacteria levels.

It is sad that I learned all about E. coli because of the beaches growing up and not from school or tainted food.

Whatever you do this weekend, have a blast! Cheers!
